What is the CLT Program?

The Nevada Landscape Association has joined forces with the Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA) to offer the CLT in Nevada. It is an international hands-on testing program, seeking to accomplish the followiing:

  • recognize proficiency in the landscape workforce,
  • upgrade the status of the landscape professional and
  • provide the public with a means of identifying qualified landscape professionals.

How do I become a CLT?

To become a Certified Landscape Technician, an applicant must pass the Common Elements plus a Core test. The certification process is divided into 2 parts. The first part involves a written exam, which tests the applicants' knowledge in all facets of the landscape industry. The written exam is a series of multiple-choice questions.

The second part to the certification process is a practical exam. During this second testing phase, an applicant must pass the core test and one of the following 3 Landscape specialties: 1) Installation 2) Maintenance and 3) Irrigation.
